Clinical Supply Management

Get the right kit to the right site for every participant, with less waste and fewer surprises along the way.

We can bring clinical supply specialists, simulation and forecasting, as well as our ClinPhone Pro RTSM platform to your study. Engage once, at a single decision, or across the whole study lifecycle.

Where Supply and Randomization Decisions Go Wrong

Most supply and randomization decisions are still made on spreadsheets, static assumptions and one-shot forecasts. That works until the trial stops behaving the way the plan predicted, and by then the options are narrower and the fixes cost time.

  • First-batch mistakes: supply plans built on recruitment assumptions that the study then ignores can leave the first batch short or oversized.
  • Locked strategy, moving reality: protocol amendments, new countries and new cohorts arrive after the supply strategy is locked.
  • Set-and-forget IRT: parameters set once at build and never revisited, even as the study drifts from the forecast.
  • Waste vs. stock-out: cutting one raises the other unless the trade-off is modeled explicitly.

What We Offer: Three Layers, One Team

ClinPhone Pro executes, the intelligence engine predicts and models, and our specialists turn the outputs into decisions and IRT configuration changes.

Forecast Order

On ClinPhone Pro: one-click forecasting and shipment prediction, designed to anticipate supply needs before a shortage interrupts treatment.

Inventory and expiry control

See inventory, lots, expiry dates and resupply strategies in one place, with accountability, reconciliation, returns and destruction workflows.

Shipment management

Depot-to-depot, depot-to-site, site-to-site and direct-to-patient shipments, with forecasting, approvals and dispatch management. For direct-to-patient, the courier or sponsor holds participant address details, in line with GDPR.

Changes during the study

Update inventory settings and operational parameters yourself, without raising a change request.

Simulation, forecasting and optimization, run against your protocol, your IRT and your live study data.

Protocol-to-supply strategy

We turn protocol requirements into an executable supply design, with feasibility and risk reviews before the build starts.

Simulation and scenario modeling

Test recruitment, dosing, amendments and country expansion before you commit, with quantified trade-offs across cost, waste, stock-out risk and service level.

IRT re-simulation on the live study

We validate and re-tune triggers, buffers, stock levels and supply schemes at build, then re-simulate as the study moves.

Randomization and supply specialists turning model outputs into decisions your team can act on.

Randomization consultancy

Strategy design, stratification planning, adaptive designs, list generation, and IRT readiness review.

Live study health checks

Review of first randomization, first dispensation, resupply and expiry events, with ongoing monitoring of stock-out and expiry risk.

Second opinion and urgent support

An independent review of a supply decision, or expert help when an unexpected supply event puts your timelines at risk.

IRT supply training

Short, scenario-based sessions that help your study team make better IRT and supply decisions. Today they focus on medication management: supply schemes and expiry settings in your IRT.

Who You Work With

  • A dedicated specialist team: randomization and clinical supply specialists working together, with a single point of contact across both disciplines.
  • [ Malcolm Morrissey, title to confirm ], leads the clinical supply team.
  • 30 years inside RTSM: 20+ years of clinical supply management, inside a business that has been building RTSM for 30 years.
  • Depth in complex designs: adaptive trials, oncology, radiopharmaceuticals, platform trials, gene and cell therapies, and personalized medicine.
  • Simulation and forecasting technology, integrated with our IRT: through our strategic alliance with Trialzen, we bring purpose-built simulation, forecasting and mathematical optimization to clinical supply decisions, designed to be used inside ClinPhone Pro or against any IRT you already run. [ Trialzen logo ]
  • Recommendations expressed in the terms your team is accountable for: risk, cost, supply continuity, and study objectives.
  • We can act as well as advise. On a Perceptive IRT we act on the configuration directly. On any other IRT, we advise on it.

How We Work Across Your Study

Take the full study lifecycle, or take one decision. Both are normal.

Plan and design

Initial supply strategy modeled at participant and site level. The impact of design and protocol choices is simulated before commitments are made, and sourcing decisions are backed by scenario evidence.

IRT build

Trigger, resupply and lookahead settings validated by simulation rather than assumption, and planning assumptions stress-tested against the configuration that will actually run.

Live study

Batch sizing and order timing re-forecast as recruitment behaves. Mid-study changes and depot additions are modeled before they are committed, with continuous re-forecasting where recruitment is volatile.

Close-out

Study review, protocol adherence checks, issue investigation and change request support.

6,500+trials delivered
3M+participants randomized
100+countries at first participant in
100%on-time delivery

Where Supply Connects to the Rest

Supply strategy, randomization and the platform that runs them are one connected system. Here is how the pieces fit together.

ClinPhone Pro Core

Ready-to-deploy RTSM on proven configurations, for studies that do not need heavy customization.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does clinical supply management cover?

Everything between the protocol and the kit a participant receives: supply strategy, forecasting, inventory, shipments, expiry, and the IRT settings that drive resupply. We support each of these through advisory work, on ClinPhone Pro, or both.

Do we have to use your IRT to work with you?

No. We advise on studies running on other IRT systems. On ClinPhone Pro, we can also act on the configuration directly.

When should we bring you in?

As early as trial concept, while protocol requirements are still being shaped into a supply design. Mid-study support is a large part of what we do, but early involvement gives you more options.

Can we engage for a single question?

Yes. Modular support is designed for one decision, such as first batch sizing, a supply scheme review, or a second opinion on a resupply strategy.

What does supply simulation tell us?

It models how your supply plan behaves under different assumptions about recruitment, dosing, sites and countries, so you can compare options before manufacturing or configuration decisions are locked.

Which study types do you support?

Complex designs are the core of it: adaptive trials, oncology, radiopharmaceuticals, platform trials, gene and cell therapies, and personalized medicine, where manufacturing capacity, dosing calculations and logistics constraints interact.

Can you train our own team?

Yes. We run short, scenario-based sessions for study teams, currently focused on medication management: how supply schemes and expiry settings in your IRT shape what reaches each site. Further topics are in development.
